Magnesium casting
Nowadays the plant produces more than 100 very important products made of magnesium alloys, including cases, covers, frames, framings, hubs, flanges and blocks for brake cylinders of aircraft wheels, авиационных колес, wheel discs for cars and motorcycles, protectors for anodic protection of different constructions (gas pipelines, pipelines, tankers, boiler equipment) against corrosion.
Together with the leading materials science research institute of aviation industry FGUP “VIAM” the work on using of new high-strength casting magnesium alloys for aircrafts has been renewed.
Main manufacturing operations:
- preparation of molding and core sands;
- production of mold boxes and cores;
- assembly of mold boxes and core blocks;
- founding;
- casting into mold boxes;
- extracting of casting and casting knockout;
- cutting/trimming and mechanical treatment of castings;
- heat and chemical treatment.

Only several Russian companies produce products made of magnesium alloys. For more than 70 years possesses Balashikha casting and mechanical plant a complex technology for the production of magnesium castings.
